Paul Blanchard workshop 1899
A fine French antique made in the workshop and under the supervision of Paul Blanchard (1851 - 1912) in 1899. Born in Mirecourt, he apprenticed with Auguste Darte from 1865. He then worked for Vuillaume and Silvestre before settling in Lyon around 1875, where he became official luthier to the Lyon Conservatoire.
This Blanchard is warm and compelling, very mature and as responsive as it gets. Creamy chocolaty tone with a versatile character. Comfortable and predictable to play. Ideal for the professional musician, be it orchestral or solo work, recital or chamber music. Able to blend with other instruments, or sing above them. Setup with De Luxe Aubert bridge and Evah Pirazzi strings.
